Invitation - Summer 2004 HFIA Meeting

It is time to start thinking about the August 2004 meeting.  The next High Frequency Industry Association (HFIA) meeting will be held in The Hague, Netherlands (NL) on Thursday, August 26th, 2004[1].  The conference will begin at 9:00AM CET (1 hour ahead of GMT) to allow for access badging and introductions. The HFIA meeting will be held at the following location:

NATO C3 Agency – Main Conference Room

Oude Waalsdorperweg 61

The Hague, Netherlands, Europe

Your attendance at this HFIA conference would be warmly welcomed as we engage in discussions on significant progress toward implementing the new U.S., ITU, IETF and NATO standards related to HF for ALE, High-Speed Modems, Link Management, GPS Organized Link/Data Controls, I.T. System Interfaces, Digital Voice and Data Security.  Equipment is commercially available which implement many of these standards.  These new standards collectively form the basis for the next generation of HF radio systems offering higher data rates, unprecedented communications reliability, and a true HF networking capability.

We are looking to put together an interesting agenda, which will include presentations and discussions on these and other important developments in the HF industry.  This meeting will provide useful information on these venues as well as any new topics that someone may wish raise to both industry and government representatives.

The agenda topics covered will include, but are not limited to:

·        April 2004 member survey (HF technology development/utilization) results

·        Release or advances in HF Communication Specification and Standards

·        Reports on HFIA Subcommittees on Interoperability & Standard HF Simulator Design

·       Information on HF Projects in High Data Rates, Digital Voice, Network Management Protocols

We are currently looking for more presentations to fill the agenda.  If you have a presentation that you would like to give or equipment that you would like to demonstrate, send Bob Baker (HFIA Secretary) or myself a short email so that we may ensure that it is placed on the agenda. A final agenda must be distributed no later than August 13th, 2004, so please register your presentation before that deadline. Presentations at this event can qualify for college credits at many universities and as continuing professional development with the Project Management Institute (PMI) certification/recertification.

Registration with the NC3A administrative office is mandatory prior to attendance. The closing date for receipt of applications to the NC3A offices is 13 August 2004. Forms for registry and application for bringing electronic equipment (including memory devices) into the facility are attached. Directional guidance will be sent out on the 14th of August to those attending.

A block of rooms has been pre-booked at the Badhotel-Scheveningen, Golden Tulip- Bel Air Hotel, Kurhaus, and Crowne Plaza Promenade for our conference at preferential rates. Other hotels are also available. Please note the transport to/from NC3A from the Bel Air Hotel. The location information and rates are appended to the end of this invitation.
