July 2006 HFIA Meeting Announcement

 

I would like to cordially invite everyone to our next meeting to be held July 17, 2006 in London, UK.  We will start at 9:00 AM and finish no later than 5:00 PM

 

The HFIA meeting location will be in the North Hall at the Royal Society of Medicine,

1 Wimpole Street, London, UK.  The Royal Society of Medicine web site is:  www.rsm.ac.uk

 

The HFIA meeting will be held in conjunction with The International Conference on Ionospheric Radio Systems and Techniques (IRST 2006), held in the same facility on July 18-21, 2006.  This is a unique opportunity for HFIA attendees to also take in this prestigious HF Conference.  For more information regarding IRST 2006 registration and hotels in the area, please go to the website:  http://conferences.iee.org/IRST2006

 

This year there will be no separate Interoperability Cooperative Meeting (ICM) since the ICM chairman reported no outstanding issues or unresolved action items from the January 2006 meeting.  However, any new interoperability issues may be raised at the HFIA meeting.

 

We are putting together an interesting HFIA agenda, which will include presentations and discussions on important developments in the HF industry.  The HFIA facilitates:

 

·         The introduction of new technical concepts and approaches to the HF community which might solve communication problems.

 

·         A forum for government to brief industry on standards, interoperability, and program related activities

 

·         A forum for industry to air views on standards, current and forthcoming technology, and interoperability concerns

 

·         A mechanism to allow industry to directly contribute to standards development

 

·         Recommendations and positions by industry to government on standards related issues

 

We are currently looking for presenters for these subjects and any related topic you may want to offer for the agenda.  If you have a presentation that you would like to give or equipment that you would like to demonstrate, send a short email to Rod Blocksome (HFIA President) or David Prokop (HFIA Secretary) to ensure it is placed on the agenda.  July 17th, 2006 is fast approaching, so please take time to consider giving a presentation.
